Octavia Acuna Memorial Page
June, 2005, Octavia Acuna, a Mexican gay rights activist, died from multiple stab wounds. News reports indicate there is concern that Acuna's partner and other gay activists could also be in danger.
According to a news article published on the PlanetOut web site, Acuna's shop was broken into and vandalized twice and that human rights groups in Mexico did little about those incidents. Acuna was found in his store. Because nothing was stolen from the shop, robbery is not believed to be the motive.
Evidently, Amnesty International has taken up Acuna's case. They are asking that Acuna's partner be protected and are asking for an investigation of the murder.
